Help Mary Program
Mary once represented a single family served by American Samaritans, now Mary’s name has become a powerful program to help those living in crisis. Mary, elder, mother, widow and precious child of God who tragically suffers from stage 4 kidney disease, coronary artery disease and an autoimmune deficiency. Out of necessity, Mary’s daughter lives with her to help tend to Mary’s many needs. Mary’s daughter is a single mother of 3 beautiful children, of which 2 have ‘Loeys-Dietz Syndrome’ while the third has ‘Autism Spectrum Disorder’. Between raising her children and tending to Mary’s many needs, it is understandable how overwhelmed Mary’s daughter might be. Mary, her daughter and grandchildren were living in a home with inadequate and unhealthy conditions, here are just a few…
• Holes in roof, soffit and facia
• Cracked windows (single pane)
• Broken entry doors
• Broken plumbing pipes throughout (old galvanized steel not copper or PVC)
• Leaking bathtub
Unfortunately, the sad reality is there are millions of ‘Mary’s’ in communities throughout – our need to serve is not going to end any time soon. Thankfully, as long as people like you continue to donate, American Samaritans can continue to serve those living in crisis.

American Samaritans Service Examples
Linda is 77 years old, a mother, widow and a precious child of God who tragically suffers from dementia. She has had multiple strokes and suffers from rheumatoid arthritis. Linda now relies on a walker and grab bars to safely move about her home. American Samaritans remodeled her bathroom by enlarging the entry door so she could use her walker to easily access the room with her walker. We installed a walk-in tub, replaced her toilet with a handicap toilet, and put grab bars on all the walls.

Mike is a 74 year old precious child of God who has had four major spinal operations within a year. He is dependent on a walker or cane. Recently his home was found to be infested with termites in one area. The damage was extensive. American Samaritans opened up the affected walls, removed the termite damage and replaced the damaged walls to where you’d never know that there were repairs done. Also grab bars in the bathroom and outside railings were installed.
